Each month we explore a new landscape theme together (Fields & Farms, Skies & Clouds, The Colors of Fall, etc). On the 1st Friday of each month, we host a workshop with Dianna Shyne based on the current theme. Dianna is a highly skilled artist and wonderful teacher. She has studied under renowned Russian artists like Ron Lukas, William Reese and Del Gish. You will gain deep insights that propel your art forward through her expert instruction and 30+ years of professional experience!

On the 2nd Friday of each month, we release an exclusive demo with a guest professional acrylic artist. Artists share their favorite techniques, practical insights they've gained, and the secrets of their success as they open their studio and present exclusive content just for us. You will expand your creativity as you hear from a variety of incredible artists and observe their personal art practice.

The 3rd Friday of each month is a bit different. You will have the opportunity to paint from the reference photo PRIOR to our Live Session. This is your chance to think through what YOU might want your artistic style and voice to be and to learn to express that. Then you'll participate in an engaging session with Jed as you're able to watch as he paints the scene himself and explores different methods you can employ as you are approaching your own artwork. He shares reference photos that are well designed & ready-to-paint scenes. You will grow in discovering your own creative voice and stride forward in confidence as an artist.

Jed Dorsey has been painting his whole life. A fourth-generation artist, he began his journey in acrylics nearly 20 years ago. His paintings are collected internationally, and he is a sought-after instructor. Jed is passionate about sharing his knowledge and helping others grow in both practical skill and fearless creativity.

Jed's been featured in Plein Air Magazine, International Artist Magazine, HGTV's Good Bones, Blick Art Materials Featured Artists, and much more. He started Acrylic University in 2018.

Multiple award winning artist, Dianna Shyne infuses her paintings with a sense of vitality and life- affirming joy.

Pursuing her passion for art, Dianna Shyne has spent over thirty five years working in acrylic, oil and watercolor. She studied 15 years with renowned Russian Impressionist teachers including Ron Lukas, William Reese and Del Gish.

Dianna has exhibited her work in over 40 solo and two person exhibitions, and won more than a dozen top National awards, Including first place in The Artist’s Magazine 2013 all media competition. Her work is included in publications such as The Artist Magazine, Watercolor Magic and Northlight Books. Dianna’s painting “Americana” was featured in the 2013 edition of “Acrylic Works the Best of Acrylic Painting” published by Northlight Books.

What if I can't attend live events?

All live events are recorded and can easily be watched on replay, so there's no need to worry about missing an event. We get it. You have a busy life, and sometimes things come up that limit live participation. That is why we have created everything so that you can have access 24/7 to the content you need - and that includes all the replays of live lessons. So feel free to watch them after hours or whenever your time allows - you are never behind!
When do classes start?

As for the LIVE content, this happens on Fridays at 10am PST. If you can't make it at that time don't worry because the recordings will be available for you to watch and learn when it works with your schedule!

What supplies do I need?
We give you access to a detailed supply list that will give you all the information you need. You will also have access to videos with helpful information about which supplies to buy and an link to an online art supply store where everything can be purchased. You can start with the supplies you have at home if you want and that’s perfectly fine. Below is a general list of the supplies that are needed to get started:

Do I need to be a 'techy' person to participate in Acrylic University?

You do not need to be a "tech wizard" to participate in our courses. We built Acrylic University on a very user-friendly platform that anyone can navigate. And if you ever have questions or issues, you can contact us at support@acrylicuniversity.com. We are here to help.
Can I cancel anytime?

Yes, absolutely, you can cancel your subscription at any time.

If you cancel your subscription within 30 days, we will refund all of your money - no questions asked. We believe strongly in what we do and we want you to be thoroughly satisfied.
Do I need to use Acrylic paints?
The short answer is no. The vast majority of what we teach is foundational to all painting mediums. So, if you wanted to use oils, for instance, you would find most of the main principles are totally applicable to you, but there would just be some differences in technique as the mediums have different properties.

The longer answer is that while you COULD use a different medium, there are SO many reasons to paint with acrylics!
- Water Cleanup: Acrylic paints clean up easily with water. You will never need to expose yourself or others to special solvents or thinners when you are using acrylic paints.
- Fast Drying: I love the fact that I can touch my paintings after a short time and not worry about getting wet paint on myself or what's around me. This makes it much easier to store and transport paintings without all the headache you'd have if they were still wet. Also, when I want to make a change to a painting I can do it quickly.
- Super Versatile: Acrylic paints can be applied to almost any surface because they adhere so well. They can also be applied very thin and transparent or very thick and impasto-like without having to worry about rules like "thick over thin" because of their quick drying properties. Acrylic paintings are easy to frame because they don't need to be protected with glass.
- Cost Effective: Acrylic paints are fairly inexpensive when compared to other mediums. This means that you can paint and practice with freedom without being too concerned about cost.
- Travel Easily: Because they are non-toxic and don't require fancy thinners, you can travel the world with your acrylic paints and never worry about boarding a plane with hazardous materials.
